On The Fireplace

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

Wouldn’t it be nice to have your own fireplace in your home? But not all houses have them. It usually depends on where you are or if it gets cold in your area. But some are able to fit in their own vent free fireplace which don’t need a chimney. They are even able to put one in their own condo units. The fireplace makes the house warm and cozy and gives a feeling of not being in the busy city even if you are in the heart of it. What also makes the fireplace look good are the fireplace mantels. The fireplace will not look bare with them. If wood is not really the design you like for your house, there are also marble surrounds that can be used on them. The fireplace would look and feel better after the mantels are placed.

Rugs

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

The floors look a bit plain without rugs on them. The rugs make the room feel a little bit more cozy. There are also outdoor rugs that can be put on the porch or if you have a small space outdoors where you can eat breakfast. Having the rugs under your feet would feel more comfortable. Your feet will even feel a little cooler during the hot weather. It would make eating your breakfast more enjoyable.

Tiles

Monday, February 1st, 2010

We always try to improve our homes. It may be just adding something here and there or renovating some parts of it to make it look different or modern. Sometimes, others really don’t notice the change but feel different somehow. There was a time when we went to a friend’s house and their floor was lined with wood. I’ve gotten so used to it being there that when I went back there I didn’t notice that they already took it apart and it showed white clean tiles. It only occurred to me at that time when I was thinking there was something different with how the whole room looked. It did become an improvement and somehow it looked cleaner. Maybe because each tile was so white and clean which somehow gave the whole room a different feel. It’s also easier to clean because it seems like the dirt are easily swept with a broom or some cloth.

Do not overcrowd your room!

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

When we think about a spacious room we imagine a cosy and comfortable apartment where there is a peaceful and relaxed atmosphere where everything is on its right place. A definite attribute of any modern apartment is a stylish furniture article or even more of them that can be bought at New Jersey furniture store. The greatest advantage of furniture from such a store is that it is trendy, designer furniture that can fit any room and will look natural there.

Any NJ modern bedroom is unthinkable without proper lightning, like modern lamps in New York or classic chandeliers. All this makes an apartment a comfortable place to live in and to be glad to return to it after a hard working day. The idea is to leave as much free space in your room as possible – do not overcrowd your apartment with tables, wardrobes,  sofas, coffee-tables and so on. Living room should be spacious and pleasant to rest.

Sunday, January 3rd, 2010

When updating your style, remember to update even the items that are more functional than decorative. The design of every single item in your home rounds out the overall look of the place, so don’t just focus on decor. Using blomus stainless steel mailboxes, for example, may go well in a modern home but it doesn’t really fit in a country one. Match items like stainless steel mailbox, trash bins, trays, and others to your interiors that exists in your current style. White, black, and silver will work in a moder or sophisticated setting.

You can also update your fireplace by using stainless steel fireplace accessories to get the look of an elegant and sophisticated home for much less. Old fireplace on its own may look dated and boring. But getting blomus stainless steel fireplace can instantly turn it into something that looks like you spent a fortune on it.

Got Mail?

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

I know it seems that mailboxes are slowly becoming unused or a thing of the past because of e-mail but there are some things that still need to   mailbox1be delivered through mail. There are also packages that can still be sent through mail and left inside the mailbox. Aside from its use, it can also become part of the decoration of the house. There are different Residential Mailboxes that may suit your taste and add to the beauty of your home. You may want something that is not so obvious like a slot on the door or something that stands on the edge of your lawn or the front entrance of your house. There are even designs that look like the old mail boxes if you have a classic design in mind.

If you own an apartment building or even a small office building with tenants, there are also Commercial Mailboxes that may look good in the front or maybe in the hallway or receiving room. It will help the tenants with their mail and the mailman or whoever is bringing them the package will not need to go to their door and bother them. I guess it will also help somehow with security because people will not go in and out the building just to deliver something to their door.

Do’s for the Client-Designer Relationship

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

A good client-designer relationship is the key to the project’s success. If you have found the right interior designer for your home, remember these pointers to produce your dream interior:

inte1. Do build a foundation of communication and trust. As in any relationship, constant feedback, listening, and trusting each other pave the way to great synergy. Think of the project as collaboration where the first few meetings will be focused on getting to know each other. As you interact more, you will start feeling more comfortable. Make that extra effort to start things right and ignite a productive chemistry between the two of you. Lay the groundwork for mutual trust, respect and professionalism from day one.
2. Do set your meetings in Advance. So you want the project done in time for your fabulous birthday bash? Then plan your house ahead, too. Meetings between you and the designer are vital to keep things moving at the right pace. Decisions are sometimes delayed not because of a lack of information or indecisiveness, but rather because of a lack of a common time to discuss and decide. Setting these meetings in advance at proper, regular intervals (usually weekly meetings are ideal) allows both parties to adjust their schedules.
3. Do communicate with pictures ad material swatches. Briefing your designer using descriptive words like “modern, soothing and casual” is a good starting point. But don’t stop there; collect pictures from magazines, material swatches or samples, and other visual and tactile references. Show what you like and what you don’t like, as design is subjective and words can mean different things to different people. Do your homework, and provide your designer with concrete visual and tangible references.
